SICIT Group S.p.A.

Italian producer of plant biostimulants derived from hydrolysed proteins, supplying crop nutrition and animal nutrition markets worldwide.

Company overview

SICIT Group S.p.A., founded in 1960 at Chiampo in the province of Vicenza and headquartered in Arzignano, Veneto, transforms the residues of the leather industry into protein hydrolysates used as plant biostimulants, alongside gypsum retarders for the construction industry and animal fat for biofuel. The company is listed on Borsa Italiana under the ticker SICT and operates a circular business model serving business-to-business customers in more than 80 countries, exporting over 90 percent of revenue.

The company was among the first to introduce collagen-based protein hydrolysates into agriculture in 1970, and states that its collagen-based products are used across Europe and Asia-Pacific on an estimated more than 30 million hectares. Its technology platform spans three pillars: collagen-derived peptide fractions, seaweed extracts from Patagonia and Moringa-based plant extracts, supported by the acquisition of Patagonia Biotecnologia in Chile.

In 2025 Renaissance Partners and TPG Rise Climate signed a binding agreement to jointly acquire control of SICIT, with co-investors including LGT Capital Partners and Schroders Capital, and leadership passed from Massimo Neresini, chief executive since 2006, to Sergi Barrull. SICIT has held the EcoVadis Platinum sustainability medal for three consecutive years, ranking among the top 1 percent of companies assessed worldwide, and a new production plant in Mexico is upcoming.
