Valagro S.p.A.
Italian developer and manufacturer of biostimulants and specialty plant nutrition products, acquired by Syngenta Group and integrated into its biologicals business.
Company overview
Valagro S.p.A., founded in 1980 and headquartered in Atessa in the Abruzzo region of Italy, is a producer of biostimulants and specialty plant nutrition products built on its GeaPower technology platform, which develops solutions from natural plant-derived raw materials targeting specific plant physiological processes such as water-use efficiency.
Over four decades the company grew from a regional startup into a multinational with 13 subsidiaries, more than 700 employees and sales in more than 80 countries. Manufacturing spans its Atessa plant and the Grabi Chemical plant in Cremona in Italy, one plant in Brazil, two in India and two in Norway, with a new production facility announced for the United States.
On 6 October 2020 Syngenta Crop Protection acquired 100 percent of Valagro's ownership and assets. The company retained its existing management team and brand identity, and continues to operate as the core of Syngenta's biologicals platform, working on plant biostimulants, biocontrol and biofertilizers for global markets.
