Albaugh LLC
Albaugh LLC
Privately held US manufacturer and supplier of generic crop protection products, with manufacturing and formulation operations across the Americas.
Company overview
Albaugh, LLC, founded by Dennis Albaugh in 1979 and headquartered in Ankeny, Iowa, is the largest privately held supplier of post-patent crop protection products in the world. Its core portfolio is based on five key active ingredients: glyphosate, 2,4-D, dicamba, copper and atrazine, complemented by numerous other active ingredients, a seed treatment platform, and turf and ornamental specialty products.
The company's milestones trace a steady build-out: incorporation in Iowa in 1979, a first formulation plant in Ankeny in 1981, its first EPA technical registration for 2,4-D in 1987, the acquisition of Atanor in Argentina in 1997, a European base from Lausanne in 2007, a formulation and logistics plant in Race, Slovenia, acquired in 2015, and the 2022 acquisitions of Rotam and Industrias Afrasa in Spain.
The 2022 acquisition of Rotam, completed after delisting Rotam Global AgroSciences from the Taiwan stock exchange, created a leading global crop protection company with total sales exceeding 2 billion US dollars across all regions. Albaugh operates multi-functional plant sites in the United States, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Slovenia, China, Taiwan and India.
