Potassium Chloride (MOP)氯化钾
Potassium chloride (KCl) is the most concentrated common potash fertilizer. Agricultural grades typically contain 54% to 60% potassium oxide, making it the lowest-cost potash product per nutrient unit; it is also the feedstock for potassium sulphate production.
Key points
- Potassium oxide content is typically 54% to 60%, the lowest cost per nutrient unit, and it is the principal potassium source in compound fertilizers.
- It carries a high chloride content and is unsuitable for chloride-sensitive crops such as tobacco, potato, sugarcane and citrus.
- Listed among the products exempt from registration under China's fertilizer registration rules.
- China's potash resources are concentrated at Qarhan in Qinghai and Lop Nur in Xinjiang, and a high proportion is imported, so prices are strongly influenced by international markets.
