Potassium Sulphate (SOP)硫酸钾
Potassium sulphate (K₂SO₄) is a chloride-free potash fertilizer, typically containing around 50% potassium oxide and about 17% sulphur. It is suited to chloride-sensitive and sulphur-loving crops.
Key points
- Being chloride-free is its core value: it suits chloride-sensitive crops such as tobacco, potato, sugarcane, citrus and grape.
- It is substantially more expensive than potassium chloride, so it is normally reserved for chloride-sensitive or high-value cash crops.
- It is produced by converting potassium chloride, so its cost is related to — but does not move in step with — the price of potassium chloride.
- Listed among the products exempt from registration under China's fertilizer registration rules.
