Urea尿素

Urea (CO(NH₂)₂) is the most concentrated common solid nitrogen fertilizer, with agricultural-grade material containing not less than 45% total nitrogen. GB/T 2440-2017 classifies it into two grades: premium and qualified.

Key points

  • Agricultural premium grade: total nitrogen ≥46.0%, biuret ≤0.9%, moisture ≤0.5%. Qualified grade: total nitrogen ≥45.0%, biuret ≤1.5%, moisture ≤1.0%.
  • Urea is amide nitrogen and must be hydrolysed by soil urease to ammonium before substantial uptake, so heavy irrigation immediately after application is inadvisable.
  • Urea is also the feedstock for automotive urea (diesel exhaust after-treatment) and for industrial urea-formaldehyde resins, so its demand base is not purely agricultural.
  • Urea is listed among the products exempt from registration under China's fertilizer registration rules.
