Bio-organic Fertilizer生物有机肥

A bio-organic fertilizer combines specific functional micro-organisms with organic material that has been sanitised and decomposed. It carries the effects of both a microbial fertilizer and an organic fertilizer. It is governed by the agricultural industry standard NY 884-2012, which requires both a minimum viable organism count and a minimum organic matter content.

Key points

  • Under NY 884-2012, the viable organism count must be at least 0.2 × 10⁸ per gram and organic matter (dry basis) at least 40% — both must be met.
  • Strain safety must comply with NY 1109, and pathogenic organisms must not be used.
  • Common functional strains include Bacillus mucilaginosus, Bacillus megaterium and Bacillus subtilis, corresponding to potassium-solubilising, phosphate-solubilising and growth-promoting functions respectively.
  • The usual practice is to apply it alongside chemical fertilizer rather than instead of it — for example 5 to 10 kg per mu as a topdressing complement.
