Controlled Release Fertilizer控释肥料

A controlled release fertilizer is a slow or controlled release fertilizer with a higher degree of control, usually a coated product whose nutrient release rate is predictable under defined conditions and whose release curve corresponds more closely to the crop's uptake curve.

Key points

  • Slow release and controlled release are not synonyms: slow release only requires a release rate below that of conventional fertilizer, whereas controlled release additionally requires the process to be controllable and predictable.
  • Assessment still rests on the release characteristics: GB/T 23348-2009 specifies an initial release of no more than 15% at 24 hours, no more than 80% cumulative at 28 days, and at least 80% by the declared release period.
  • The release period is declared as a single value with a tolerance of 25% — for example, a declared six months allows the 80% cumulative release point to fall at six months plus 45 days.
  • It suits single-application and mechanised systems, reducing the number of topdressings and the labour required — a central selling point as labour costs rise.
