Foliar Fertilizer叶面肥料

A foliar fertilizer is applied to the leaf surface and taken up through the leaf to supply nutrients. It is usually a liquid or powder with good water solubility, used to correct deficiencies rapidly or to supply secondary and micro elements.

Key points

  • The advantages are rapid response and small doses, making it suitable for correcting deficiencies in the middle and late growth stages; the limitation is that a single application supplies little, so it cannot replace soil application.
  • Concentration and timing are critical: too strong a solution scorches the leaf, and spraying in high temperature and bright sunshine worsens both scorching and evaporative loss.
  • Urea and monopotassium phosphate are common ingredients — for example 0.3% urea with 0.3% monopotassium phosphate at grain filling in wheat.
  • Compatibility must be checked before tank-mixing with pesticides to avoid precipitation or aggravated phytotoxicity.
