Fertilizer Synergist肥料增效剂

A fertilizer synergist is a material added to fertilizer to improve nutrient use efficiency, either by suppressing pathways of nutrient loss or by improving nutrient form. The main classes are nitrification inhibitors, urease inhibitors, water-retention agents and combined inhibitors.

Key points

  • There are two mechanisms: suppressing losses (nitrification and urease inhibitors) and improving form (slow-release materials, chelating agents).
  • A synergist generally contains no nutrients itself and must therefore not be counted in the declared total nutrient content.
  • Effectiveness depends heavily on soil temperature, moisture and pH, and measured results for the same product can differ widely between regions.
  • The distinction from a stabilised fertilizer: a synergist is a material, whereas a stabilised fertilizer is a product category — a fertilizer containing a synergist may be described as stabilised.
